for Ron
I.
Farewell and goodbye misery
With grudging respect my hat tips true
As I take leave of your company with tepid adieu
Your shadow fading, I soon to bathe in the warm collection
Of luminosity that is the Texas sun
Enroute, countless moments weigh in, some heavy on the rough
Conversely, feelings soften when soaked in the trough
Of time, fore I know if we should happen to meet again,
If only by thought or post card, postage paid
That is fine with me
II.
Endless days of nights put to done
By embracing the Texas sun
Misery is in my blood,
Not tainted,
But in and of
III.
As time passes its remember-by-date,
As misery gathers dust upon the mental shelf,
I know that now is never too late
To wipe clean the earthen years from the self
